If you are a football fan, the Rapideum at the Allianz Stadion is a must-visit in Vienna. Since its opening on 15 December 2011, it has become the go-to destination for anyone passionate about the game.

From the club’s founding in 1897 as the first Wiener Arbeiter Fußball-Club, through historic championship victories and unforgettable moments, the Rapideum takes you on a journey through more than a century of football greatness with over 2,000 artefacts. In the 31 display cases and 59 drawers you can marvel at trophies and medals, including replicas of the Victoria Cup (1941) and the Providentia Cup (1930 Mitropa Cup, authentic jerseys, boots, and memorabilia as week as a bench from the Pfarrwiese, Rapid's legendary former stadium.

One of the most exclusive features will take you to experience the legendary “Rapid-Viertelstunde”, the club’s iconic final push of energy and passion. No one represents this fighting spirit better than Steffen Hofmann, whose legacy lives on through personal displays and stories that inspire fans to this day.

You will also see how Rapideum doesn’t just celebrate titles but it tells the full story, including the darker chapters. One powerful section, Green and White Under the Swastika, explores the period from 1938 - 1945 which confronts critical questions around sporting success during the Nazi era, honouring not just victories but the victims, resisters, and silent heroes within the club.

Rapideum is part of the German-speaking Football Museums and Club Archives Network, standing alongside over 50 partner clubs committed to preserving the soul of the game. Interestingly, a certain Markus Heikkinen, Mako, of Finland played six seasons 2007 - 2013 for Rapid Wien totalling over 170 appearances for the Austrian Bundesliga side.

The museum is fully accessible, in the south-western corner of the Allianz Stadion. There is no museum café but the fan club shop is probably the biggest of all museum shops in Vienna! For a beer afterwards, you may need to return to the centre. Hütteldorf is pretty lame about that!
